📱 India Launches World’s First AI-Powered National Education Platform — ‘ShikshaGPT’ to Revolutionize Learning
Date: June 2, 2025
Location: New Delhi, India
In a historic move to transform the education landscape, the Government of India today officially launched ‘ShikshaGPT’, the world’s first AI-powered national education platform designed to offer personalized, multilingual learning for students across all grades and backgrounds.
Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a national address from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, the platform aims to bridge educational gaps in urban and rural areas, enhance digital access, and make world-class education available to every Indian child.
Today, we are not just launching a new platform. We are launching a new future for India’s children—powered by knowledge, guided by technology, and driven by inclusion,” the Prime Minister declared.
ShikshaGPT is an advanced artificial intelligence system built in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, IITs, and top Indian EdTech startups. Inspired by global AI models, it’s been trained on Indian school curricula, including CBSE, ICSE, and various state boards. It supports 12+ Indian languages and voice interaction, making it highly accessible—even for non-English speaking students.
📚 Instant Homework Help
Students can ask academic questions in any subject and receive detailed, understandable explanations with examples.
🎧 Voice-based Learning
Ideal for younger learners and visually impaired students, the platform offers audio-based lessons and feedback.
🧠 Exam Prep Mode
Custom-generated quizzes, mock tests, and revision notes for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, UPSC, etc.
🌐 Offline Support
In low-connectivity zones, ShikshaGPT will be integrated into Rural Digital Learning Kits with offline updates.
The government has already partnered with over 3 lakh schools across the country to implement ShikshaGPT in classrooms starting July 2025. Teachers will receive training to blend AI with traditional teaching, and digital smart boards will be installed in 1 lakh rural schools by the end of the year.
A mobile app version will also be available for students to study independently at home, with parental controls and progress monitoring tools.
Several countries, including Brazil, Kenya, and Indonesia, have expressed interest in adopting ShikshaGPT’s model. UNESCO hailed the initiative as a “landmark moment in the democratization of education powered by artificial intelligence.”
Dr. Reena Sharma, a teacher from Uttar Pradesh, said:
“We used to struggle to give equal attention to every child. With this tool, every student gets a digital tutor available 24/7.”
Raju, a class 10 student from Bihar, added:
“I asked it a math question in Hindi, and it explained it step by step. I feel like I finally understand algebra!”
With ShikshaGPT, India hopes to make education equitable, efficient, and empowering. As the platform evolves, future versions may include career counseling, mental health support, and AI-generated learning paths tailored to individual student interests.
The launch of ShikshaGPT marks not just a technological milestone, but a giant leap toward a smarter, more inclusive India—where every child, regardless of location or background, has a teacher in their pocket.
